Legitimate Reasons to Vote in the Primaries

4.
Because no Democratic primary is "winner take all." Instead, voting in every state is proportional. If Obama gets 45% in New York, for example, he'll get 45% of the delegates from New York. If he gets 49% of the vote, he'll get 49% of the delegates. In Nevada, Obama didn't win the popular vote for the state, but will take more delegates to the convention. And each delegate will really, really matter this time around.

3.
Because in the primary, every state is a swing state. This year's race is extremely, unusually close, and every state will have a big effect. Frankly, because of the electoral college, your vote in the general election might not matter as much. But in the primary, there are no red states and blue states. Just actual democracy.

2.
Because Obama really can win New York, and it would be awesomely embarrassing for Hillary if he did.

1.
Because voting is the new apathy. It is very reasonable to feel skeptical about the candidates or disillusioned with politics in general, but it is not reasonable to bury your head in the sand. We need to nominate a Democrat who can WIN the national election and end the war, protect civil rights, and restore our reputation abroad. We think that means Obama.
